Vertical emery stones are a type of abrasive stone used for grinding and milling grains, such as wheat, corn, and rice. They consist of two vertical, disc-shaped stones, which are usually made of emery, a type of hard, abrasive rock. The two stones are mounted vertically, with a gap between them that can be adjusted to control the size of the grind. The grains are fed into the center of the top stone, which is then rotated by a motor or other power source. As the top stone rotates, the grains are ground against the stationary bottom stone, which is grooved to aid in the grinding process.
